Legrande Ogden Cole, a longtime resident of Danbury, died January 25, 2011 at the River Glen Health Care and Rehabilitation in Southbury; he was 92 years old. Legrande was born April 16, 1918 in Ithaca, N.Y., the son of the late Romain Ogden Cole and Ruby (Schott) Cole. He operated Cole's Greenhouse on Balmforth Avenue in Danbury for many years and was a green housekeeper for the State of CT and a member of St James Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his son, Donald Cole and his wife, Jillian of Southbury; one daughter, Cynthia L. Vogel of Newtown; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by his wife, Hazel Cole in 2008; a son, USN Lt Commander Legrande O. Cole; and son-in-law, Timothy Vogel.

Calling hours and services will be held in private; a memorial service will be announced at a later date at the request of the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Green Funeral Home in Danbury.
