Age 81, a gifted bible teacher, loving husband and devoted father, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Wednesday, March 13, 2013. Bob was born in Toledo, OH on September 23, 1931, the son of George C. and Jeanette (Peugeot) Groner. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Robinson. Bob retired from the Michigan State Police (civilian) as an auditor with the Office of Highway Safety Planning. He was an active member of Holt Baptist Church, served as a deacon for many years with several churches and served as a Gideon. His sense of humor will be missed by those who knew him. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Paul Groner. Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn (Foren) Groner; son, Terry (Laronda) Groner of Fort Wayne, IN; daughter, Debbie (Delza) Pitts of Mason; 5 grandchildren, Devon, Mark and Jason Groner; Chad Rulison and Hayley Pitts; sister-in-law, Shirley Groner; brother-in-law, Paul (Arloa) Foren; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 12:00 noon at the Palmer, Bush and Jensen Family Funeral Homes, Holt Chapel with Rev. Fred Froman of Holt Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Leek Cemetery, Alaiedon Twp., with Military Honor provided by the VFW Post #701 The family will receive friends Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time. For those wishing, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse or Lansing City Rescue Mission in memory of Bob Groner.
