HAYS - Joseph F. Billinger, 67, died Aug. 14, 1991, at his home. He was born Sept. 22, 1928, at Winnebago, Minn., the son of Michael and Mary Goetz.

A longtime Hays resident, he was a U.S. Postal Service employee for 25 years, and he worked for Fort Hays University. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Hays. He was a U.S. Navy veteran during World War II.

On Aug. 4, 1948, he married Viola Bieker, at Hays. She survives.

Other survivors include: six sons, James, Hays, Jerry, Topeka, Kenneth, Mequon, Wis., Randy, Thornton, Colo., Ron, Sterling, Va., and Larry, Arlington, Va.; three daughters, Linda English, Shawnee, Lora Suther, Highland, Md., and Jean Hertel, Victoria; and 12 grandchildren.

Parish wake will be at 7:30 p.m. today at Hays Memorial Chapel, Hays. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays with Father Paulinus Karlin presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.
