Former Archbishop of Simla, India, Monsignor Anselm Edward John Kenealy OFM. Cap., was born in Abersychan, Torfaen, Wales, and was ordained to the priesthood through the Capuchin Order at the early age of 22 in 1887.

On December 21, 1910, Kenealy was appointed as the First Archbishop of Simla, India, receiving his episcopal consecration on the following January 1, from Cardinal Girolamo Gotti OCD., assisted by Archbishops Francis Alphonsus Bourne and Dominique Jaquet.

Resigning from the pastoral government of his see at 71 years of age on January 13, 1936, he moved to the Capuchin Friary church of St. Francis and St. Anthony, Crawley, West Sussex, England, where at the beginning of the century, had served as Friar Guardian, passing peacefully away on December 8, 1943, aged 79.
