Georgia Marie (Oaks) Arnold

GATE CITY, Va. - Marie O. Arnold, 80, 113 Ft. Blackmore Road, passed away Thursday (April 13, 2000) at her residence.

Born in Scott County on May 6, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Dennie C. and Lovely Babb Oaks. She had worked as a teacher's aide for Scott County School System and was an Avon representative for many years. Mrs. Arnold was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charlie Bill Oaks.

Surviving are her husband, Coy Arnold , of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Doyle Rasnick, Tazewell, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, ``Lester'' Allen and Sandra Arnold , Kingsport; four grandchildren, Mrs. Bryan (Jennifer) Boyd, Tazewell, Va., Myra-Beth Rasnick, Harrisonburg, Va., Allen Arnold , Lexington, Ky., and James Wayne and Kathy Arnold , Kingsport; two great-grandchildren, Kaley Nicole Arnold and Bryan Keith Boyd II; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Kelly Brooks, Gate City, Va.; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Shirley Oaks, Gate City, Va.; special aunt, Ada Mann, Thaxton, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Leroy Pearson and the Rev. Larry Spivey officiating. Music will be provided by Leroy Pearson.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Oaks, Bobby Oaks, Mike Oaks, Ernie Oaks, Denny Haynes, Duane Drye, and Shane Miller.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, c/o Phyllis Meade, Route 2, Box 273, Gate City, Va. 24251.
