Floyd Denton was born in Crawford County on April 30, 1904. Floyd worked as a clerk in the Marengo General Store. He married Lucille Miller (b.1906), whose father Charles (Chuck) Miller lived with them until his death. Floyd and Lucille had two children: Douglas (b.1932) and Patricia (b.1936). Douglas moved to Greendale, IN and passed away in 1983, but Patricia lives in Marengo to this day. Floyd bought Marengo Cave in 1955 from the Stewart family. He built the first lighting system for the cave and had great plans for its further development, but these plans were cut short in 1960 when he suffered a stroke in the cave itself.
