William Mack Parker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley J. Parker of Agricola community, was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps after successfully completing the rugged officer training course at the Marine Corps School at Quantico, Virginia.

The new Lieutenant will now begin a two-month advance course at Quantico, before being assigned to lead Marines in battle. His commission was awarded at a colorful ceremony at the Leatherneck school.

Lt. William M. Parker
The news of the promotion of 2nd Lieutenant William M. Parker to the rank of First Lieutenant was received here recently. Lt. Parker is now station in the Pacific, leading a group of leathernecks, and his work on Iwo Jima won for him this promotion. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wiley J. Parker.
