Sarah was the daughter of Benjamin and Martha McKitrick Lunsford. She was married to Hiram Mount. They settled near Buckingham Creek in Oakdale in 1885, moving into an old log house. Hiram and Sarah had 10 children. The family was well-known in Trimble Township and Morgan County, where Hiram excelled at farming. Sarah made certain that their children went to school, even though they had to walk for miles on mud roads to get to the little log McKee School near the covered bridge. On Sundays the family attended church at Oakdale.
