GLENN C. GATES

Glenn C. Gates, age 63, of 1512 25th St., Two Rivers, passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at Aurora Medical Center, Manitowoc County.

Glenn was born Jan. 14, 1947, in the town of Two Rivers, son of the late Gertrude E. (Stueck) Gates and George J. Gates. Glenn was baptized on Feb. 9, 1947, and confirmed on March 26, 1961, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Two Rivers.

On Sept. 11, 1971, he married Maxine A. Gaedtke at Faith Lutheran Church, Valders.

Glenn served in the U.S. Army from July 19, 1966 - 1968, stationed in Germany.

He lived his life dedicated to faith, family, and friends. Glenn served on many church committees and also served as President of St. John's Council for multiple terms throughout the years. Glenn was the head of the Building Committee for St. John's Lutheran School on 45th St., Two Rivers, from 1999-2000. He was very proud of the dedicated workers of St. John's Congregation, who worked together to get the job done. Glenn also participated in Relay for Life as a cancer survivor. He enjoyed carpentry, gardening, bowling, and spending time with his family, especially playing with his three granddaughters.

He also enjoyed his job at Consumers Steel for 15 years, under the ownership of Bob and Tom Niquette and at Consumers, Inc., under the ownership of Dave Eck for 25 years.

Glenn enjoyed helping out wherever needed and always did the best job expected of him.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents: Gertrude and George Gates; his half brother: George Gates, Jr.; his mother and father-in-law: Reinhardt and Adeline Gaedtke; sister-in-law and brother-in-law: Geraldine and Harold Behnke.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Park St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the Service will be the Rev. David Scherbarth. Burial will be at Gjerpen Cemetery, town of Cato. Military Honors will be accorded by the Two Rivers. V.F.W. and American Legion. The family will greet relatives and friends on Wednesday, March 10, 2010, from 4 to 8 pm at Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning at St. John's Church from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers a memorial to St. John's School or St. John's Church, 3607 45th St., Two Rivers, would be appreciated.

The Klein and Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Aurora Medical Center, Manitowoc County, for their compassionate care and dedication shown to Glenn and his family. Also a special thank you to Pastor David Scherbarth for his kindness and compassion in our time of need.
