Second but first surviving son of Sir Humphrey de Bohun and Elizabeth of England. Grandson of Sir Humphrey de Bohun, Earl of Hereford and Maud de Fiennes, Edward I, King of England and Eleanor of Castile. John was born in St Clements.

John married Alice de Arundel, the daughter of Edmund de Arundel FitzAlan and Alice de Warrene, the daughter of Sir William. They were married by dispensation dated 22 Feb 1325 as they were related in the 4th degree, and had no issue.

John married secondly, Margaret Basset, the daughter of Lord Ralph Basset, and Joan de Grey, daughter of Lord Grey of Wilton. They were married before 19 Feb 1331, again the date of dispensation as they were related in the fourth degree, and had no issue.

After his death, Margaret went to Santiago and other foreign holy places of pilgrimage for a year.
