James Washington (Jim) Bates, 81, 1052 Lynn Garden Drive, died Tuesday morning at 4:30 after a lengthy illness.
He retired from Tennessee Eastman Company in 1948. He was a native of Scott County and a member of Lyon Garden Evangelical Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Lynn Garden Methodist Church. Burial will be in Holston View Cemetery.
