CATO PIONEER PASSES AWAY AT AGE OF 84
Infirmities incident of old age caused the death of Aslak Halvorsen, a pioneer of the county, at the old farm homestead near Valders, Friday evening.
The funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and burial will be at the Gjerpen cemetery.
Born in Gjerpen, Norway, October 12, 1843, Mr. Halvorsen came to this country with his parents in 1856, the family taking up its home in the town of Cato where he continued to reside until his death.
He was married December 30, 1869 to Marie Knutson who preceded him in death ten years ago.
One daughter, Mathilda, and a son, Herman, also preceded the father in death and he is survived by one son Elmer, who with his wife and three children is living at the old homestead. A brother, Christopher [#103286819], town of Cato, also survives him.
