US Congressman. In 1881, he came to the United States, located in Minnesota and began his business experience in merchant retail. In 1903, he came to San Diego, California, followed the real estate business, was an executive head in many banking institutions and involved political affairs. As a Republican district candidate in 1932, he was elected to the seventy-third Congress and re-elected to the seventy-fourth, serving March 4, 1933 to January 3, 1937. In the Congress Legislative, he was responsible for the measures passed in adding United States Naval expenditure on the west coast prior to World War II. His other public services included; being a member of the Honorary Commercial Commission to China in 1910, member of the San Diego Library Commission, the San Diego Scientific Library, a member of the City Council and as vice-president of the Panama-California Exposition of 1915-1916 and the 1935-36 Exposition.
