(1976 - 2003)

Richard A. Meyer, age 27, of Menasha, died early Thursday morning, Nov. 13, 2003 at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah, the result of an automobile accident while on duty.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 17, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. James Jugenheimer will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial with burial to follow at the church cemetery.

Rick was born Jan. 6, 1976 in Manitowoc, son of Harlan and Linda Seibold Meyer. He was a 1994 graduate of Valders High School and earned a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1999.

On Aug. 12, 2000, he married Tanya Schuh at Clarks Mills. Rick and his family made their home in Menasha and he was employed as a Deputy Sheriff for the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department.

Survivors include his wife, Tanya; a son, Maxwell at home; his parents, Harlan and Linda Meyer of rural Valders, one sister and brother-in-law, Sandi and Rich Kappelman of Valders; one brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Erin Meyer of Green Bay; his maternal grandparents, Lloyd and Pat Seibold of Manitowoc; his paternal grandparents, Ted J. and Mary Ann Meyer of Newton; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Bill and Kathy Schuh of Valders, Two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Tim and Sara Schuh of Manitowoc, Terry and Colleen Schuh of Milwaukee; godchild and niece, Kirsten Kappelman; nieces and nephews, Devan Kappelman, Olivia Schuh, Eric and Gregory Schuh. Rick is further survived by his fellow officers, other relatives and many friends.

The family will greet relatives and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003 at St. Mary Catholic church, Clarks Mills. Visitation will continue from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. on Monday Nov. 17, 2003 at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial education fund has been established for Maxwell.
The Christianson & Deja Funeral Home and Cremation Car Center, Valders, is assisting the Meyer family with funeral arrangements.
