Francis A. Meyer, age 81, of 318 S. County Road J, Clarks Mills, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2006, at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers. He was born May 30, 1924 in Manitowoc, son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Mueller Meyer. Francis was a graduate of Valders High School, class of 1942. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Air Force from April, 1944 to May, 1946. Francis owned and operated the Valders Barber Shop for 50 years, retiring in November, 2005. He was a member of the Valders Legion Thompson Burkard Post 28, where he held the post commander for 19 years. He was also the legion historian for 27 years; Manitowoc County Commander for five years; and county adjutant finance officer for two years. Francis was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, the Holy Name Society and a former member of the Lions club, which he belonged to for over 30 years.
Francis is survived by his friends, Jim and Sandy Stadler and family; Donald and Jane Resar and family; along with cousins, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jame Meyer. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills, from 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006, until the time of service at 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. James Jugenheimer with burial of the cremated remains at St. Mary Church Cemetery, Clarks Mills. Military rites will be accorded by the Valders Legion Thompson Burkard Post 28. The Christian & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
