JOSEPH T. RAPPEL (d. 1978)

Joseph Rappel, 83, of Cato, died Monday evening in Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in Reedsville Funeral Home, Reedsville and 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. Leander Nickel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Rappel was born Jan. 18, 1895 in Cato, son of the late John and Mary Riederer Rappel. He was employed with Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 15 years until his retirement Jan. 1, 1960. He married Mathilda Hill Oct. 20, 1918 in St. Michael Catholic Church, Whitelaw. Mr. Rappel was a charter member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Catholic church and the Manitowoc Senior Citizens.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold and Clara and Leonard and Lenore of Manitowoc; two sisters, Mrs. Marie Weber and Mrs. William (Alice) Pollen of Manitowoc; seven grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, four sisters and two brothers.

Friends may call at Reedsville Funeral Home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday. A parish vigil service will be recited at 8 p.m. by Father Nickel.
