Jerome N. Schmidt, 58, of Valders, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 8, at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home, Valders, and 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. The Rev. John Conrad will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mr. Schmidt was born Sept. 23, 1924, in the Town of Cato, son of the late Louis and Rose Tienor Schmidt. He attended St. Mary School, Clarks Mills, and married Dolores Hammel Sept. 27, 1947, at Clarks Mills. Mr. Schmidt had been employed with Valder’s Meat Market from 1940 to 1976 and from 1976 to the present time he worked for Brillion Iron Works. He was a member of St. Mary Church and AIW-AFL-CIO Local 475 of Brillion Iron Works.

Survivors include his wife, five sons and two daughters-in-law, Charles and Monica of Brillion, Richard and Diane of Manitowoc and John and Kevin at home; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley and Conrad Knier of Brillion, Rosemary and William Brunner of Manitowoc, Patricia and Duwayne Retlich of Elkhart Lake, Joan of Oshkosh and Carol at home; four sisters, Mrs. Marcella Schermetzler and Mrs. Marie Novak of Manitowoc and Mrs. Gertrude Brunner and Mrs. Caroline Robinson of Valders; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Esther Hammel of rural Manitowoc and eight grandchildren. A son, Michael, a grandson and a brother preceded him in death.

Friends may call at Christianson-Deja Funeral Home 4:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m.
