GRIMMS LAD DIES OF RIFLE WOUND
Eugene Schuh Shot While Boys Played “Target” With Deadly Gun
BROTHER HANDLED GUN
Game Played Many Times Proves Fatal When Rifle Explodes
A nine-year-old Grimms boy was fatally shot at his home in the village Sunday with a rifle in the hands of an older brother as the two played a game called “hit the target”.
The dead boy is Eugene Schuh, son of Ralph Schuh, Grimms. Shot through the head with a rifle believed to be unloaded by Bernard, 9, a brother, he was brought to the
hospital here where he died on the operating table two hours later.
According to the stories told to Dr. Gerald Rau, county coroner, by the Schuh children, the game that ended fatally Sunday had been played by them many times before with a .22 caliber rifle that hung from a wall above the kitchen door. The children said that they would chase about the house with one holding the gun and the others shouting “hit the target”.

Through Brain
Sunday morning, with the guns in the hands of Bernard Schuh, the game was continued but this time as the boy pulled the trigger of the rifle there was a report and Eugene Schuh crumpled to the floor—shot through the right temple. The bullet plowed through the brain and lodged beneath the skin on the opposite side of the head.
Dr. J.M. Kelley of Cato removed the Schuh boy to the hospital here for an emergency operation but he died on the operating table at 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Rau, after an investigation, decided that it was an accidental death and said there would be no inquest.
The accident happened shortly before the arrival of Ralph Schuh, the father, from Green Bay, where he is employed.

Mother Dead
Mrs. Schuh died a short time ago. The father, formerly employed at the limekilns, continued to make his home at Grimms, although working at Green Bay.Ralph Fr., an older brother, is sick in bed and is being cared for by his sisters.
Survivors are the father, two brothers, Bernard and Ralph Fr. And two sisters, Leona and Ruth.
The body was removed to the Shimon undertaking parlors at Reedsville. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning from the St. Mary's Catholic church at Clarks Mills.
