From Der Nord Westen, 14 Nov. 1895:
We have recently learned that on 28 Oct. Alois Vogel died in Town Cato. Mr. Vogel was a well-known farmer of that town and had reached the age of 47. He came with his parents as a 7 yr. old child to America 40 yrs ago and they settled in Town Cato where he has been ever since. On 10 Sept. 1868, he married Miss Theresia Brandl. Two years ago we reported their celebration of a Silver Wedding Anniversary.
They had 11 children, of whom 8 survive; 2 of the daughters are married and the youngest child is 7 yrs. old. Mr. Vogel has always enjoyed good health, but on a recent trip to Sturgeon Bay he became chilled and fell ill upon return home. It turned into pneumonia and after 6 days of illness his life came to an end. A short while later he was given a Catholic funeral.
