Roman Catholic Saint, Patron Saint of Bologna. Believed to be a Roman official who visited the holy land. The visits that he made influenced him to enter the priesthood and he became bishop of Bologna in about 432. His main achievements were the repair of many buildings and churches destroyed by the Goths and the building of the monastery of Santo Stefano. His feast day is celebrated on 4 October. His tomb is modelled on the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
