GATE CITY, Va. - Hazel Newton, 76, passed away Wednesday morning (June 20, 2007) after an illness while at Sunbridge Healthcare Center.
She was born Feb. 10, 1931 in Scott County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Arnold and Maxie Blair McClellan. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 51 years, Hubert Newton; and a brother, Lloyd McClellan.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Scott County Funeral Home.
The services will follow in the funeral chapel with Rev. Ed McLain officiating.
Words of encouragement will be provided by Doug Humphreys.
Music will be provided by David and Rhonda Hood.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Holston View Cemetery. It is requested that family and friends meet at the funeral home by 10:20 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
