A memorial mass will be celebrated for Dorothy Thilmony, 86, Valley City, ND, at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Valley City. Burial will be in St. Catherine's Cemetery. She died Nov. 26, 2010, at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Valley City Town and Country Club on Monday from 7 until 8 p.m.
On Nov. 28, 1951, she married Martin Thilmony at St. Olaf's Catholic Church in Minneapolis. They made their home in Valley City, ND. She worked as a bookkeeper for Martin Motors, which Mr. Thilmony owned. After they sold the business, she worked for the state highway department and later for Valley Implement. In 1964, she began working as a program assistant at the Barnes County ASCS office. Following her retiring from there in 1986, she worked at Dakota Drug for several years.
She was a member of St. Catherine's Catholic Church. She enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, and going to the casino.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Jo (Rick) Fitzner of Valley City; grandchildren Mike Fitzner of Sault-Ste. Marie, MI, Tim (Kristin) Fitzner of Maple Grove, MN; and Amy (Jeff) Stromswold of Moorhead, MN; a great-grandson, Easton Fitzner.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
