She married Bo Wininger, a golf star at OSU, in 1951. When Bo joined the PGA they settled in Oklahoma City, and toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe. In 1964 they moved to Las Vegas, NV, where Bo became the Pro for the Desert Inn and Stardust golf clubs. A lively and attractive couple, Nita and Bo soon acquired a wide variety of prominent friends, including Arnold Palmer, Fred Waring, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Lucille Ball, and many others. Bo died in 1967. Nita returned to Oklahoma City, where she worked in Real Estate, then retired from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in 1998.
In addition to Bo, she was preceded in death by daughter, Holly. She is survived by daughter, Lisa; nephews, Lee and Gary Poole, and niece, Lynn Spach. Nita did not pass through this life unnoticed and did not fail to brighten the lives of those she met along the way. A memorial service will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at All Souls Episcopal Church in Oklahoma City.
