Lloyd Edwards Leka 85, of Springfield died at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. John's Hospice. He was born on May 12, 1902, in Illiopolis, son of Henry and Almina Edwards Leka. Preceding him in death were his wife, the former Ruth Stinson, in 1987, and four brothers.

Mr. Leka was a member of First United Methodist Church, a 58-year member of St. Paul's Lodge No. 500 AF&AM, Springfield Valley Scottish rite; Springfield Chapter No. 1, Royal Arch Masons; Springfield Council No.2, royal and Select Masons; Elwood Commandry No.6, Knights Templar;and the Ansar Temple.

He ws a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and a member of Theta Chi fraternity. For over 40 years he was a civil engineer with the Illinois Highway Department Bureau of Materials. Mr. Leka was also a member of the Illinois Association of Highway Engineers and the Illinois State Employees Association.

Surviving is one daughter, Penny Leka Knapp of New York, N.Y. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Roger Rominger officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
