PROVIDENCE, Ky. -- Nolan Edward Mayes, 58, of Providence, died at 1:28 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at Owensboro Mercy Health System.
He was born in Muhlenberg County in Kentucky on April 14, 1943. He was employed as a leadman at Speed Queen in Madisonville, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn McElvain Mayes of Providence; two sons, William Edward Mayes of Fredonia, Ky., and Jason Mayes of Moorman, Ky.; two daughters, Lisa Lanham of Providence, and Linda Gmuca of Enon, Ohio; two brothers, Tom Mayes and Roy Mayes, both of Madisonville; two sisters, Pauline Reeves and Betty Browning, both of Madisonville; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, Ky., with the Rev. Kerry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens in Powderly, Ky.
Visitation will be after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
