Corp. Billy Foster, 20 son of Lula Foster and the late Elbert Foster of Monette, AR, was killed in Imo Jima on March 5, while serving with the Fourth Marine Division. He was graduated from Monette High School and was assistant manager of the Gregg Funeral Home at Monette when he enlisted in March 1943. He took part in the fighting at Kwajalein, the Marshalls and Saipan.

He also leaves two brothers, Bobby and Elbert Foster of Monette; and a sister Mrs. Betty Lucas of St. Louis; a grandmother, Mrs. Hattie Foster of Monette.
