Mary Irene (Williams) Lane

KINGSPORT - Mary Irene Lane, 89, of Franklin Street, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning (July 19, 2005) at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born Feb. 13, 1916 in Scott County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Patton and Polly Alley Williams. She was of the Methodist faith and was a homemaker.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Melvin Lane (1997); one daughter, Glenna Gail Lane; one brother, Rev. Kenneth Williams; two sisters, twin sister, Kathleen Darnell and Ida Darnell.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Scott County Funeral Home and other times at the family home, 149 Franklin St., Kingsport (Lynn Garden).

Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Buddy Legg officiating.

Music will be provided by the Salley's Chapel Quartet.

Graveside committal services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.

It is requested that those wishing to attend meet at the cemetery by 10:55 a.m.

Carter-Trent/Scott County Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., is serving the Lane family.
