GATE CITY, Va. - Garland L. Wisley, 89, Route 1, went home to be with the Lord Friday (Sept. 17, 2004) at Holston Valley Medical Center.

He was born in Scott County, Va. on Sept. 15, 1915 and was the son of the late Walter P. Wisley and Myrtle Lane Wisley. He retired from Daugherty Bros. as a certified welder and mechanic.

Mr. Wisley was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church and member of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 170 Gate City, I.O.O.F.

He will always be remembered for his big smile and hearty laugh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Monnie Reynolds and Lena Bizzell; brothers, Luther Wisley, Echol Wisley, and Hubert Wisley.

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va.

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Pierce officiating.

Music will be provided by Phyllis and Ken Pierce and Mark Stayton.

Graveside services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at the cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Trevor Bullion, Wayne Daugherty, John Kilgore, Faye Darnell, Lowell Lowe, and Bill Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Herman Peters, Jim Daugherty, and Joe Bellamy.
