Published January 3, 1947 in the Birmingham News:

Emma Jane Chaney, age 92, of Princeton Avenue, passed away Thursday a.m. at her residence.

Survived by three sons, George C. Chaney, A.M. Chaney and Martin L. Chaney, Sr.; three daughters, Viola (Mrs. Ellis C.) Masters, Eva Lorene (Mrs. Leo W.) Hyde and Stella (Mrs. J.E.) Murphy, Columbus, Georgia; and several grandchildren.

Funeral service will be Saturday 10:30 a.m. at Brown Service Norwood Chapel, Rev. James Cantrell officiating. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
