He was born in Bucksport, Me., an 1815. He came to New-York in 1848 and was engaged with his brother, John U. Brookman, for many years in the shipping and commission business, retiring about twenty years ago.
He married Marion Prentice, daughter of the late John H. Prentice of Brooklyn. The widow, one son-Henry Prentice Brookman-and two daughters-Mrs. Amory Carhart and Mrs. Philip Niles-survive him.
