Mary Margaret Sheraski was born on Feb 29, 1940 in Manitowoc, WI. Her parents were Frank and Emily (Plotka) Sheraski. She married Carl Blahnik 1937-2006 on Dec 16, 1961 at St. John United Church of Christ, Two Rivers, WI. Her obituary reads: Mary M. Blahnik, age 61, a Manitowoc County resident, died on Sat. Feb. 23, 2002 at Aurora Medical Center, Two Rivers.Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tue. Feb. 26, 2002 at St. JohnÕs United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Service will be Rev. Robert Meyer with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.Mary was born on Feb. 29, 1940 in Manitowoc, the daughter of the late Frank and Emily Plotka Sheraski. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, class of 1958. Mary earned a bachelor degree in Educa-tion from Silver Lake College in 1986. She married Carl E. Blahnik on Dec. 16, 1961 at St. JohnÕs United Church of Christ, Manitowoc. Mary was an educator at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum for 10 years. She then taught CPR for the Red Cross, computer basics at SauveÕs in Two Rivers and was a Purser on the Carferry Badger. Mary was also known as the "Lumber Lady" in Northeast Wisconsin educating elementary students about the lumber history in Wisconsin. She was a mem-ber of the AAUW, Greater Manitowoc Kiwanis, Pick Ribbon Society, American Cancer Society and a life member of the Manitowoc and Two Rivers Historical Societies. Mary was also a member of the WomenÕs Guild, Sew-n-Sews and taught Sunday School for 27 years at St. JohnÕs United Church of Christ, Manitowoc.Survivors include her husband Carl Blahnik, Manitowoc, three daughters and sons-in-law; Judy and Todd Pivonka, Manitowoc, Beth and Jeff Nethery, Elkhorn, Emmy and David VandenLangenberg, Manitowoc. She was "Busia" to her three grandchildren; Katie, Jake and Noah. Mary is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.Mary was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Chester Sheraski.The family will greet relatives and friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Mon. Feb. 25, 2002 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, and at church from 10 a.m. until the time of Service at 11 a.m. on Tues. Feb. 26, 2002.
