Ruth Gladding "Gladys" Fulton Gilliland, 102, of 508 Old Vienna Road, formerly of Birmingham, Ala., died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003 at her home.
Born in Collinsville, Ala., she was a daughter of the late William Frierson II and Mary Virginia Keene Fulton and the widow of George Louie Gilliland. She lived in Birmingham for 60 years. A former schoolteacher and a homemaker, she was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church. She was the second oldest living real daughter of the Confederacy.
Survivors include a daughter, Ann G. Todd of Abbeville; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. today at New Hope Presbyterian Church, conducted by the Rev. George Busch. Burial is 2 p.m. Sunday in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham.
Visitation is 1-2 today in the church social hall.
The family is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Keith Todd, 508 Old Vienna Road.
