Services for W.H. “Bill” Fair,
90, of Hobbs, N.M., will be held
on Wednesday, April 13, 2005,
at 2 p.m. at First Missionary
Baptist Church, Hobbs, N.M.
He crossed
over into
eternal rest
on April 9,
2005, at his
home surrounded
by
his family.
The Rev. Ronald
Wales,
Rev. John
Rushing and
the Rev. L. B.
Harris will be officiating.
Interment will follow at
Prairie Haven Cemetery under
the direction of Chapel of
Hope Funeral Home.
He will lie in state Tuesday,
April 12, 2005, from 8 a.m.-8
p.m. The family will greet
friends from 5-8 p.m.
Mr. Fair was born on
January 30, 1915, in Angus,
Texas to Steward Calvin Fair
and Willie Mae Bates Fair. He
was married to Ruby Inez
Deskin on May 11, 1936. They
were married for 51 years until
her death in 1987. He married
Cleta Adams on July 30, 1988.
He moved to Hobbs in 1948
from Seminole, Texas, and
worked at Pharis Radiator
Shop for 22 years before purchasing
the business from Joe
Pharis in 1970. He retired in
1984 after selling his business
to his sons. He was a dedicated
member of First Missionary
Baptist Church for 43 years,
also serving as deacon for over
35 years.
He is survived by his wife,
Cleta of the home; sons, Aron
Fair and wife Berna Dean of
Cayuga, Texas, and Billy Fair
and wife Sharon of Hobbs,
N.M.; daughter, Jo Dell Vaughn
of Hobbs, N.M.; son-in-law Jim
Burns of Farmington, N.M.;
grandchildren, Darrell Burns
of Albuquerque, N.M., Carla
Collins of Bryan, Texas, Nancy
Johnson of Farmington, N.M.,
Darby Vaughn of Hobbs, N.M.,
Scott Burns of Farmington,
N.M., Lisa Bass of College
Station, Texas, Ricky Vaughn
of Hobbs, N.M., Berna Dette
Orr of Whitesboro, Texas,
Jennifer Fair of Hobbs, N.M.;
18 great-grandchildren; nine
great-great-grandchildren;
numerous nieces and nephews;
a special sister-in-law, Betty

He was preceded in death by

brother, Willard Fair; two
daughters, Nellie Burns and
Betty Carol Fair; a son-in-law,
Joe H. Vaughn; and a greatgreat-
grandson, Bryston Lei
Miller.
