He was born Jan. 25, 1927, at Bertha in Summers County, a son of Noah Levi Gadd and wife Beatrice Gore Gadd. He had a twin brother, Robert Lee Gadd.
He married Virginia Farley on Aug. 3, 1948, at Mead Memorial Methodist Church in Russell, Ky.
Mr. Gadd was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He was a retired tool and die maker for Remington Rand Corp. in Marietta, Ohio. He was a former member of the Parkersburg Masonic Lodge and a member of the Hinton Masonic Lodge #62 A.F. & A.M.
An avid outdoorsman who particularly enjoyed deer hunting and fishing, Russell loved life. Although he was retired, he never quit working. He was a Baptist and enjoyed gospel music.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister.
Left to cherish his memory were his wife of 60 years, Virginia Farley Gadd; a daughter; a grandson; three brothers, including his twin, Robert; six sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Mr. Gadd's life was held on Aug. 20, 2008, at the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors Chapel, Hinton, Summers County, with Pastor Jim Martin officiating. Burial was in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens at Princeton, W.Va.
