Helen Elena Headley, 82, of 482 Hacklebender Road, Mt. Morris, died at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2002, in her home, following a lengthy illness.

She was born December 1, 1919, in Morgantown, W.Va., a daughter of Franklin Peirce Hawkins and Cora Temperence Walker Hawkins.

Mrs. Headley was an active member of the former Shannon Run Methodist Church, where she was coordinator of Shannon Run Church Bible School. She was a member of Mt. Morris United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Headley was a life member of the women's auxiliary of James T. Maxon American Legion Post 992 in Mt. Morris, a member of Mt. Morris Senior Citizens and was a homemaker.

On May 7, 1958, she married Burris R. Headley, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Elena Dennis of Morgantown; three sons, Warren Headley of Mt. Morris, David Headley of Point Marion and Frank Headley of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Darrell Headley, Tammy Everly, Lisa Dennis, Brandon Headley, Lynann Headley and Grant Headley; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Gibson and Bertha Hawkins, both of Point Marion; and a brother, Lawrence Hawkins of Point Marion.

Deceased are four sisters, LuAnna Galeota, LaVerna Mohrbacher, Bessie Storm and Jacqueline Klink; and three brothers, James Crytser, Archie Crytser and Avalon Hawkins.

HEADLEY – Friends of Helen Elena Headley of 482 Hacklebender Road, Mt. Morris, who died at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2002, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., corner of Ellsworth Avenue and Route 19, Mt. Morris, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 24, with the Rev. Chester Tennant officiating. Interment in Fairview-Kiger Cemetery, Whiteley Township, Greene County.
