Mrs. Hattie Bell West
Mrs. Hattie Bell West, 59, wife of James West of 522 Polk street, died in City hospital at 9:50 pm Thursday after an illness of a month.
Born Sept. 1, 1899, in Van Wert, she was a daughter of James Crowder of Paulding county, and Frances Judy Crowder of Kentucky. Her marriage to Mr. West was May 29, 1907, in Marion. She was a member of Park Street AME church.
Surviving with her husband are children, James West Jr. of Kenton, Roy and Carl West, both of 126 Fies avenue, Mrs. Ruth Wood of Cleveland, Mrs. Mary Clemmons of North State street, and Frances, Betty, Alice, Dorothy, Shirley, Earl, Charles and Don West, all at home, sisters, Mrs. Maudie Johnson and Mrs. Bertha Richardson, and brothers, James, Arthur and Raymond Crowder, all of Marion, and George of Columbus and Miles of California, and a half brother, Lorain, of the Army.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:30 pm in the AME church by Rev. Albert E Liles, Pastor. Burial will be in Marion cemetery. Friends may call at the Merle H. Hughes mortuary on Mt. Vernon avenue after 7:30 pm Saturday until Monday noon, when the body will be removed to the church.
