"Leverett Welch Dies as Brother, Carlos, Being Buried. The funeral of Carlos B. Welch, who passed away Nov. 22, was held Saturday afternoon at the Baptist church following a prayer service at the home, Rev. H.H. Nickerson officiating. He was the son of Stephen and Mary (Bennet) Welch, born in West Groton, July 10 1837. He was united in marriage Aug. 31, 1870, to Mary Scott. Six children were born to the union, three dying in infancy. Mrs. Welch passed away Sept. 11, 1917, and he married Kate Mayette of Newbury on Oct. 31, 1918. He has been a resident of Groton most of his 76 years and is well known and respected. The family lived in Plainfield about 20 years and then returned to the home town. Since his death Wednesday, his only brother, Leverett Welch, died early Saturday morning. Carols Welch is survived by his widow and two sons, George M. Welch of Ryegate and Nelson Welch of Groton and one daughter, Mrs. Laura Clark of Bristol, Conn. and one sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Emery, 92 years of age, eighteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren."
