Marjorie (Margie) Baxter Davis, 58, went to meet the Lord on Friday, September 30, 2011. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on August 27, 1953 and grew up in Beaumont after the family moved there in 1959.

She attended French High School where she had many close friends. Margie worked in oilfield sales for a number of years before leaving Beaumont to live in Leakey, Texas with her husband Bill.

She fought so very hard, yet passed away from complications due to breast cancer at Sid Peterson Hospital in Kerrville.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Francis Baxter, Jr. and Mary Olive Dailey Baxter, both of Beaumont, nephew Stewart Thomas Baxter of Beaumont and mother-in-law Ruth Davis of Beaumont.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 31 years, Bill Davis of Leakey, her daughter and best friend, Margo Bennett Caraway and two grand-daughters whom she adored, Jorie Rae Conn and Grace Elaine Caraway all of Beaumont. She is also survived by her many siblings and spouses: Molly and Alan Rayne of New Castle Colorado, Gordon and Linda Baxter of Rosenberg, Roney and Vicki Baxter of Leakey, Bonnie and Carson Patterson of Houston, Jim and Paula Baxter of Beaumont, Laurie and Greg May of Midland, Martha and Ross Hansen of Beaumont and Step-Mother and Sister Diane and Jenny Baxter of Beaumont.
Margie also leaves behind a large number of nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews, as well as many close friends.

Margie and Bill moved to Leakey in 2001 to take over River Haven Cabins on the beautiful Frio River from Janie Johnson and have been active members in the community and the Chamber of Commerce in Leakey for a number of years. They both participated in the Leakey American Cancer Society Relay For Life to honor the memory of nephew and Godson, Stewart, and Bill's mother, Ruth.

Moving to Leakey and building their house on the land they owned on Saddle Mountain was their dream and they were blessed to experience many happy years there. Margie never met a stranger, and went out of her way to help anyone she could. She considered guests and staff at River Haven as part of her family.

She will be greatly missed by all and, though that sweet laugh and loving Sprit will live on in all who knew and loved her, there will never be another Margie Davis. We love you wife, mom, sister, grandma, Aunt Margie, friend … to the Moon and Back!

There will be two Memorial Services for Margie: Saturday, October 8, 2011 at 2:00 PM, Leakey United Methodist Church, 419 North Market Street, Leakey, TX 78873. Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 12:00 PM., St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 4090 Delaware Street, Beaumont, TX 77706-7801.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you honor Margie's memory by making a donation in her name to The American Cancer Society.
