Poet, Writer. He was a Czech poem writer and one of the most prominent representatives of Czech Realism movement. Educated in Prague's German schools, at the age of thirteen he began attending lectures on the Czech language. 1n 1860, he became a free-lance writer and journalist, contributing influential essays to Národni Listy, a liberal newspaper. He first entered the literary scene as a poet with his most popular prose work, “Tales of the Little Quarter; Prague Tales” (1878). Neruda's poetry collections also included “Hřbitovní kvítí” (1858), “Knihy veršů” (1867), “Písně kosmické” (1878), “Balady a romanc”e (1883) and “Zpěvy páteční” (1896), published posthumously. He also was for his gallery of sketches of 19th century Prague.
