James (Jerry) was born at Minneapolis, Minnesota on 25 January 1927; died at Buhl, Idaho on 10 October 2005; buried there at West End Cemetery. For the last several years of his life he resided Buhl, Idaho [Patti Belden, pers. comm., Sept. 1996].

Jerry was adopted by James Ernest and Marvel Taylor Belden. His birth name was William LEEMAN. His birth mother, Dorothy, married by 1952, Claude HOWARD.

Jerry served in combat as a Seaman First Class for the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. From 1948 to 1949 he worked as a traveling salesman in California, Oregon, and Washington. From 1949 to 1951 he worked in the oil fields in Southern California. From 1952 to 1957 he worked for the construction company owned by the husband of his birth mother, Claude HOWARD. In 1958 he owned and operated a construction company in Southern California. He removed to Las Vegas, Clark Co., Nevada, in 1959 where he owned and operated a construction company until his retirement in 1994.

Jerry married first Marian Marie ZANDER at Corning, Tehama Co., California, on 4 October 1947 . They divorced at Las Vegas, Nevada 12 May 1960. Marian was born at Glenham, Dewey Co., South Dakota 27 January 1930 to Henry K. ZANDER and Mildred Alice VANDERPOLE. Marian and her parents removed to Corning, Tehama Co., California in 1936.

Jerry married second Arliss Ann FOLGER at Las Vegas, Nevada on 9 July 1960. They divorced there in 1967. Arliss died in Arizona in 1995.

Jerry married third Patti Claire DANCIU at Las Vegas 3 July 1971 [Clark Co., Nev., VR, Marr., A369396]. Her memorial is also in Find-A-Grave.on

Jerry and Patti resided over 20 years at Las Vegas, Nevada, where he was a building contractor, and retired to the Twin Falls, Idaho area where they resided at Buhl, Idaho.
