Mr. Louis Riffee Jr., of Rt. 3, Bridgeport, went to be with the Lord peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday (May 29, 2013).
He was born June 8, 1920, in Taylor County, the son of the late Louis and Lucy Bice Riffee. Mr. Riffee was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Smell Riffee, in 2010.
Mr. Riffee is survived by a daughter, Nancy Lee Stafford and husband Larry of Bridgeport; two grandchildren, Joshua Aaron Stafford of Bridgeport and Amber Nicole Nickerson of Bridgeport; and one brother, Darrell Riffee and wife Margaret of Bridgeport; also a granddaughter in-law, Lori Stafford of Bridgeport; and a grandson-in-law, Sheldon Nickerson of Bridgeport. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Walter Riffee.
Louis retired from the family business of dairy and livestock farming and enjoyed gardening. He was an active member of Boothsville Baptist Church since 1941. He became a church deacon on April 21, 1974, and served as an usher. He was a member of the American Baptist Men. Mr. Riffee was a member and past president of the Boothsville Senior Citizens and served on the Taylor County Senior Citizens Board of Directors.
The family would like to thank Amedysis Hospice and the Taylor County Senior Center, especially Nancy Poling, Tammy Ketterman and Ellie Elsey, for their love, care and support.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main St., Bridgeport, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today. As per his request, a graveside service will be celebrated at Bridgeport Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, with the Rev. Orville Wright presiding.
