Funeral services for Mary
Alice White of Hobbs, N.M.,
will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb.
24, 2005, at Griffin Funeral
Home Chapel. Burial will be
at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Arrangements are in the
care of Griffin Funeral Home.
Mrs. White, 95, died
Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005, in
Hobbs. She was born April 14,
1909, in Archer City, Texas.
She married William Mason
White on Oct. 2, 1939, in
Seminole, Texas.
Mrs. White lived on a ranch
between Jal and Eunice in
earlier years and was a bus
driver and cafeteria worker in
Eunice. When she moved to
Hobbs, there were still wooden
sidewalks. White Street is
named after her father-in-law,
Bob White. She was in the
VFW Ladies Auxiliary for
several years and was a great
card player at the senior citizens
center. She has been a
resident of Country Cottage.
Survivors include two brothers,
Frank Lewis of Dallas,
Texas, and Ramon Lewis of
Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister,
Ruby Ellen Anderson of
Needles, Calif.; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by
her parents, Fred and Annie
Lewis; her husband, William
Mason White in 1976; and
numerous brothers and sisters.
