Professional Football Player. For six seasons (1950 to 1955), he played at the linebacker position in the National and Canadian Football Leagues with the Chicago Bears, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Ottawa Rough Riders. Raised in Florida where he attended Miami Senior High School, he served with the United States Military during World War II, prior to playing collegiate football at the University of Florida. Selected by the Bears during the 1950 NFL Draft, he totaled 39 regular season games. Dempsey moved onto the CFL and distinguished himself as he achieved All-Star status in 1955. After retiring from football, he remained in the Ontario-area and established himself as a successful businessman. (bio by: C.S.)
