Doris was the daughter of John R. and Mary (Lewis) Yeager. Her childhood was spent in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended St. Paul's Catholic school and graduated with the first graduating class from Bishop Kenny high school. Her brother, John R. Yeager, Jr., of Watkins Glen, NY, died December 15, 2007.
