Deacon Ambrose P. Dodge was born on December 14, 1795, in Annapolis, Canada, he was the son of Charles and Mehitable Gates. He was the grandson was Stephen "The Loyalist" Dodge from Oyster Bay, Long Island, New York.
He married Abigail PARKER on April 8, 1819, in Annapolis Royal, Canada, she was the daughter of Obadiah Parker and Keziah Morse. They had 11 children in 21 years. He died on June 6, 1873, in Annapolis Royal, Canada, having lived a long life of 77 years.
