George was the son of Milton P. CORNELISON and Spicey TODD Cornelison.

He had two wives. The first was Sarah Elizabeth RIGGINS who he married on 8 Jul 1866 in Grayson Co., TX. Sarah died in 1879 in Texas after bearing seven children:

Laura Evelena CORNELISON Floyd (1870-1912)
Jesse Milton Cornelison (1871)
Mary Jane Cornelison (1872-1957)
William Albert CORNELISON (1873-1950)
Sarola Della Cornelison Dawkins (1875)
Eugenia W. Cornelison (1877-1878)
Eugene M. Cornelison (1877-1878)

His second wife was my Great Aunt Mary Elizabeth CAMPBELL. Together they had 13 children. Not only did Mary raise her own 13 but George's seven other children as well. Their children were:

George Enos CORNELISON (1881-1933)
Spicey Cornelison (1882)
Matilda Cornelison (1883)
Archie Porter Cornelison (1884-1943)
Bertice "Bertie" Oma CORNELISON Lederer (1885-1928)
Annie Clarentine Cornelison Hansen (1888)
Effie May Cornelison Keen (1890-1955)
Homes Ira CORNELISON (1892-1943)
Carrie E. Cornelison (1894)
Zada G. Cornelison (1897)
Ila O. "Babe" Cornelison (1899)
Claude Douglas Cornelison
Leroy R. Cornelison (1905)

George was born in 1844 in Tennessee. He was four years old when Spicey and Milton set out for Texas.

During the Civil War he joined the 11th Texas Infantry along with his father and William F. and Garret Cornelison. There are conflicting reports on when George returned from the war. One report says that he was too sick to join and returned in July of 1862. Another report lists him as still with the 11th in 1863. He then returned to Cherokee County.

Sometime there after the whole family moved to Grayson County, Texas, near Collinsville. They stayed there until the turn of the century. In 1900 George's son, George E., set out with his young wife to Oklahoma. George W. and the rest of the family met them there where Erik is now located in 1901.
