Jesse L. Clark, 88 years, of Waynesburg R. D. 4, prominent Wayne Township resident, died Wednesday, October 7, 1959, in his home. He had been ill six weeks. Mr. Clark was a son of William P. and Susan Crile Clarke and was born August 2, 1871, in Wayne Township. He had resided most of his life in the Oak Forest Community, and engaged in farming and stock raising. He was a member of Pursley Baptist Church and for more than 30 years had taught the Men's Bible Class. He also was a senior deacon in the church and for many years was the congregation's delegate to the Ten Mile Baptist Association. He was an active member of the Ten Mile Baptist Association Choir for a number of years. Mr. Clark was a member of Hoover's Run Grange, Greene County Pomona Grange, and the State and National granges, holding the seventh degree. Surviving are his wife, Alice Gooden Clark, whom he married February 19, 1896; two sons, Ralph W. Clark of Waynesburg, and Shirl H. Clark of Waynsburg R. D. 1; one daughter, Mrs. Samuel Calloway of Christie, Va.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Alice Horton, Lee Clark and Donovan Clark; and two great-granddaughters.
