Caroline Karn, 100, Jamestown, died Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010 at Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.

Caroline Clara Mack was born July 24, 1910, at rural Pettibone, N.D., the daughter of George and Clara (Bartel) Mack. She grew up on the family farm and attended the rural school. She married Orville Karn on Aug. 10, 1943, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, Sykeston, N.D. They farmed in several places in North Dakota and lived in Michigan for a short time. They lived in Kensal, N.D. They retired in 1968 and moved to Jamestown. He died in 1993. She entered Ave Maria Village in 2004. She was a member of St. James Basilica and a lifetime member of the basilica's Tabernacle Society. She enjoyed music, playing harmonica, dancing and gardening.

She is survived by a son, Orville (Lorna), Bozeman, Mont.; four daughters, Irene Eckroth and Ella Rettig, both Jamestown, Clara Oathoudt, Ypsilanti, Mich., and Rosa (Bruce) Ingold, Ivins, Utah; 22 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter-in-law, three sons-in-law and a grandson.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday, St. James Basilica, Jamestown.
Prayer service: 7 p.m. Sunday, Ave Maria Village, Jamestown.
Visitation: noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, Lisko Funeral Chapel, Jamestown, and one hour before the service at the church.
Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.
