Born June 3, 1939, in Georgetown, Washington, D.C., she was the daughter of the late Willie Lee and Mary Roberta Offutt Young.
She was employed as an office manager for Dr. John Chick in Washington, and was a bookkeeper for B.I.D.A. in Bethesda.
She was a member of Saint Mark Presbyterian Church in Rockville, Md., where she was an usher.
She was a member of Order of the Amaranth and Order of the Eastern Star, both in Kensington, Md.
She is survived by her husband, Arthur A.C. Sursaw; a daughter, Anne M. McComas of Baltimore; a son, Robert W. Bergen of Bethesda; a sister, Barbara Young Windsor of Keedysville; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Lee Young.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Saint Mark Presbyterian Church, Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Boonsboro Cemetery. The Rev. Arnold S. Young Jr. will officiate.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Arrangements are by Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro.
