U.S. Congressman. As a young man he apprenticed as an upholsterer and mattress maker in 1871. Moving to Denver, Colorado, in 1877, he became successful in the upholstery and mattress business and later in the furniture business. Entering politics, he was a member of the board of supervisors for the city and county of Denver, (1910-14). In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third Congress, serving until 1915. Not seeking reelection, he resumed his former business pursuits until his death.
